Online casino fined by the FrenchOnline casino fined by the French
The owner of Partouche International, Patrick Partouche, was fined 40,000 euros and handed a 12 month suspended sentence by the French court for his participation in an online gambling company which illegally targeted French players, and his company was ordered to pay 150,000 for lending its name to the website "Casino770.com" and "Poker770.com".
The main website of Partouche International (casinopartouche.com) was taken out of service on August 27 2006, however, the group has given their brand name to the websites mentioned above, which are owned by Mandarin Dated Processing Ltd, and has included a message on their website recommending them to their visitors as alternative online gambling sites.
This has been seen by the industry as just another act by the French government to try and keep its gambling monopoly in the country. It is not clear at this moment if an appeal will be made.
